How does tipping work in the USA?
As an integral part of American culture, tipping is an habit in the USA. You will most often find them under the term "Tips" or "Gratuity".
But when it is not part of the culture of our country, it can sometimes be confusing not knowing when and what to give. So we are going to give you a few lists of jobs or situations where it is appropriate to tip (not an obligation).
Hotels:
Groom: $1.00 to $2.00 per luggage carried and a little more if he takes time to show you all the features of your room.
Room Maid: $3.00 to $5.00 per day
Car Valets: $1.00 to $3.00
Room service: 10-20% of the total fare.
Baggage concierge: 15-20% of the total bill.
Doorman: $1.00 per bag and $1.00 if he calls a taxi for you
Transportation:
Taxi Drivers: 15-20% of the total fare.
Wheelchair Staff: $5.00 to $10.00
Staff who help you with your luggage:$1.00 per bag
Restaurants:
Waiters: 15-20% of the total bill (don't forget that this is their salary).
Bartender: $1.00 per drink
Locker rooms: $1.00 per coat
Care:
Hairdressers: 15-20% of the total bill.
Manicure/Pedicure: 10-15% of the total bill.
Massage: 15-20% of the total bill.
