in Las Vegas?

Rodeo has its roots in cattle ranching in Spain, where the word "rodear" means "to encircle, to turn around." Originally, rodeo involved rounding up cattle for branding, grooming, or sale. It first evolved into informal competitions in Mexico and the American Southwest, which transformed into official rodeos in the late 19th century with events like the one in Pecos, Texas, in 1883. The creation of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) in 1936 definitively regulated the sport. Today, a visit to the American West isn't complete without attending at least one real rodeo. So why not take advantage of your trip to Las Vegas to discover this sport that will truly immerse you in the world of cowboys?

Helldorado Days Rodeo

Helldorado Days Rodeo began in 1936 as a tribute to the Hoover Dam workers and quickly became a staple of traditional rodeo. Since 2019, the Plaza Hotel & Casino Las Vegas has hosted Helldorado Days Rodeo at the CORE Arena, the historic site of the 1905 land auction that marked the founding of downtown Las Vegas. Helldorado Days Rodeo takes place annually in November.
